魏丕信（Pierre-Etienne Will），生于1944年，法国著名汉学家。早年攻读欧洲古典文学（拉丁、希腊、法国）和中文，1975年获巴黎大学博士学位，1969年入法国国家高等社会科学研究院任教至今，1991年当选法兰西学院院士。研究范围遍及人口史、灾害史、水利史、荒政史、明清国家与经济的关系、明清官僚制度等，有专著2部及论文50余篇，成就卓著，在国际学界享有盛誉。

曼素恩获密歇根大学文学士学位、斯坦福大学哲学博士学位。现任戴维斯加州大学历史学教授兼历史系主任。1999―2000年任亚洲研究会主任。其第二部著作《缀珍录》曾获亚洲研究会Levenson（利文森）奖。另与程玉溪联合主编了忡国历史上的性别书写》（伯克利：加利福尼亚大学出版社，2001）、目前正在撰写《张家才女外传》。
